Xylitol is a naturally occurring sweetener found in fibrous fruits, vegetables, hardwoods, and corncobs. On the industrial scale, xylitol can either be mainly sourced from corncobs or birch trees. Many prefer xylitol sourced from corncobs as it’s a proven renewable source and contributes less waste to our environment. Instead of harvesting trees, manufacturers harvest the corn and its cob which was previously cast out as waste in order to produce the xylitol. Corn cob (not the kernel) stands to be a truly environmentally friendly source.
Xylitol use also provides excellent dental benefits

Helps reduce the development of dental caries

Helps to increase salivary flow to aid in the repair of damaged tooth Enamel
Provides one third fewer calories than sugar
May be useful as a sugar alternative for people with diabetes (on the advice of their healthcare providers)
